What we keep when you write to us or ask to stay, why we keep it, and how to ask us to change it.

Who we are
This website belongs to Nyore Hillside Retreat, a hillside retreat in Nyakaguruka, Mbarara district, south-western Uganda. You can reach us at [email protected] or on WhatsApp at +256 783 356142.
What we collect, and why
When you ask to book a stay
The booking page asks for your name, email address, telephone number, country, the dates and number of guests, and an optional message. We use this only to answer you, check the dates, confirm or decline the request, and look after your stay. We also send you the emails that belong to your request: that we received it, whether it is confirmed or declined, and a short reminder before you arrive. A booking request is not a confirmation until we write to you.
When you write a review
The review form asks for your name, where you are from, the month of your stay, your rating and your words, and an optional email address. A review is held back until a member of our team has read it. If we publish it, your name, where you are from and your words appear on the Reviews page. We do not show your email address.
When you email, call or message us
If you write to us by email or WhatsApp, or call us, we keep the message and your contact details so we can reply and remember what we agreed.
What your browser keeps
If you choose a currency, the site remembers your choice in your own browser so the prices stay in that currency on your next visit. This is not sent to us. To limit spam, the booking and review forms keep a short-lived code made from your internet address for up to one hour, then forget it.
Other services on this site
- Translation. The language picker uses GTranslate, which sends the text of the page you are reading to Google Translate so that it can be shown in your language. It may store a small cookie to remember the language you chose. Translations are made by machine and may contain mistakes.
- Map. The Contact page shows a Google Map. Google may receive information about your visit when the map loads.
- Links to other sites. We link to Booking.com, Tripadvisor, Google, Facebook and WhatsApp. Once you leave this site, their own privacy policies apply.
- Fonts and images. Our fonts and photographs are served from this website itself.
We do not currently run advertising or visitor-tracking tools on this site. If that changes, we will say so here.
Who sees your information
Your details are seen by the people at Nyore who deal with bookings and enquiries. We do not sell them. They are held on the website and in the email service that carries our messages. For guests who book through Booking.com, that company handles the details you give it under its own policy.
At present you pay at check-in. If we add online payment later, the payment company will handle your payment details and we will name it here before it starts.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We will answer you. Uganda has a Data Protection and Privacy Act (2019) which gives you rights over your personal information, and you can use those rights too.
Changes to this page
When we change how we handle your information, we will change this page and its date.
